In a few short weeks UFI will be presenting its UFI Open Seminar in Muscat, Oman. The opening speaker is the Chairman, OIEC, H.E. Mohsin Al Balushi. H.E.’s presentation is titledOman’s Potential in the Business Event Sector for the Coming Decade.”

To give you a flavour of the issues he will cover I was able to ask him a few questions.

Barry:

What are the key messages you would like to leave with the participants about business in Oman?

H.E.:

In view of the Sultanate’s great potential in the investment, tourist, commercial & infrastructural fields, we wish to acquaint the participants with these potentials and how they can benefit from the investment services and facilities provided by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry in the Sultanate. In addition we wish to inform them about the facilities and services offered by the Public Authority for Investment Promotion & Export Development and Oman Chamber of Commerce & Industry and the services and facilities provided by Oman International Exhibition Centre for exhibition organizers, exhibitors and visitors.

Barry:

What should an exhibition organizer take into consideration when developing an exhibition in Oman?

H.E.:

The Specialized Trade Exhibition’s (B 2 B) aim is to attract both local and foreign companies and establishments, whether from Arab sister countries or foreign friendly countries, to exhibit their latest products, services, and technologies, with the aim of promoting these products and services in the local market and acquaint consumers with them. Our aim is also to strengthen commercial relations between Omani and foreign companies and activate commercial transactions between them. We, therefore, expect organizers to focus on this type of exhibition and appreciate the quality of the exhibited products and services. They also must become familiar with the international standards and the adopted laws and regulations in the Sultanate of Oman.

If you haven’t already registered for this event there is still time. The seminar dates are March 24 – 26, 2013. For more information and online registration, please click here: www.ufi.org/muscat2013
