UFI’s Open Seminar in Europe, June 17-19, in Malmo, Sweden is quickly approaching.

The opening keynote will be delivered by author and speaker Dr. Kjell Nordstrom. His presentation promises to reveal how organizers can thrive in what he calls the “Karaoke Economy.” The title itself peaked my curiosity so I asked Kjell for more details.

Barry:

The title of your book, Karaoke Capitalism: Management for Mankind is intriguing. How does your definition of Karaoke Economy fit into the exhibition industry?

Kjell:

Karaoke refers to the “sameness” that is a fact of life in so many industries today. The exhibition industry is to the best of my knowledge no exception.

Barry:

What are some of the obstacles organizers face to be innovative and imaginative in their businesses?

Kjell:

The key challenge looking ahead is to develop our leadership skills and find relevant organizational tools.
