A recent post on the Ungerboeck blog addressed the question – Why Nobody is Using Your Event App. The author quotes a recent CEIR study which found that only 26% of young professionals use a mobile app version of an exhibition program. Attracting these tech-savvy young professionals is what prompted many of us to develop apps in the first place.

The post states,  “Event organizers and mobile app solution providers need to ensure our sites/mobile solutions modify content in a way that makes an exhibition mobile app a ‘must use’ resource when attending and ensure post-show content is easily accessible so attendees are interested in using the app beyond the event.

This goes beyond thinking that many event apps relate specifically to the event only and have very little post-event application.

Ungerboeck’s post addresses an important issue. Just because the usership is low doesn’t necessarily mean apps have no value. The real reason may stem from how the app was developed in the first place.
