“The Government of Germany has recently suggested that the crisis might last until at least 2013. There is also concern that in a w-shape recovery the next phase will be a stronger downturn than earlier expected. When looking at the last economical crisis in 2000/2001, our industry must be aware that a major recovery to pre-crisis levels will not likely take place within the next 2-3 years. Companies, therefore, need to work on all three profit drivers, i.e. volume, costs and prices. I’d like to encourage everybody to exchange on best practices in these areas. In my next blog I will come up with some practical suggestions.”

I am sorry, but I don’t share your opinion and I think we should fight together against this pessimistic forecast: don’t you interpret the opinion of the German Government in a very pessimistic way ? I prefer to consider the quite positive forecast on trends of the OECD as a reliable one.
I do share the sentiment of Vincent Gerard that the position forecasted by the German government could be too pessimistic.
The current exhibition industry and market in Asia is more bullish and optimistic, despite recent setbacks in some quarters.
I believe that the industry would turn the corner by the middle of 2010! But we must work for it in this Year of the Tiger!
