Community Manager
So you want to begin using social media but do not know where to start. The answer is surprisingly simple. First you need to identify the community you are trying to reach. This might include an industry, specific challenges or a certain position within the targeted community. The more specific you can become the more meaningful your contributions will be.
The next step is to focus on a social media site that your community now uses. You can determine this through your fair registration system by adding one more field to identify which social media tool your audience prefers.
Then, before you launch your social media efforts, follow those people who are in the community you are trying to reach and become familiar with the issues they are dealing with.
Sometimes we over complicate technology but when you step back and realize that technology is just another communication tool then applying a bit of common sense to your approach can go a long way.
