Community Manager
So you want to begin using social media but do not know where to start. The answer is surprisingly simple. First you need to identify the community you are trying to reach. This might include an industry, specific challenges or a certain position within the targeted community. The more specific you can become the more meaningful your contributions will be.
The next step is to focus on a social media site that your community now uses. You can determine this through your fair registration system by adding one more field to identify which social media tool your audience prefers.
Then, before you launch your social media efforts, follow those people who are in the community you are trying to reach and become familiar with the issues they are dealing with.
Sometimes we over complicate technology but when you step back and realize that technology is just another communication tool then applying a bit of common sense to your approach can go a long way.
Hello
You are very right about choosing a social medium.
Look who you want to talk to and see where you can find them. On he other hand our ” coummunity” : the exhibition and event community will soon be able to find a lot of information on “Expopedia”.
This website , first developped as a database for the service industry will launch his version 2.0 beginning of next year on Euroshop.
The aim is to link the database to all public information available on our industry, to add also dedicated information from media Expopedia will agree to share informatin with and even userinfomation that the users of the platform would add to their profile ( news – jobs – projects etc …).
there will be a google connector nd a link with all the social media.
The goal is nothing less than be the Google of our industry, because the future if internet is depending on the way we will be able to get some order in the worldwide net and gather information of one industry one one internet platform.
This platform will enable organisations to link and to join without having to give up the own identity and housestyle. I

A lot of times social media is used to promote your event. Why not have a look at it the other way and give visitors an advantage and organizers more marketing data.
There is now a mechanism that allows people to register for an event using their LinkedIn profile rather than having to key the data every time! This saves them time and irritation.
The advantage for organisers is that, in addition to the usual details such as name, business, position and date of birth, they can now also consult extra information from the LinkedIn profile, provided this is available: Twitter account, profile picture and, perhaps in the future, interests, education,
recommendations, honours, associations, etc.
