Apps and the exhibition industry have come of age. I just read Michael Heipel’s great posting called iPod/iPhone/Android Apps for Conferences and Trade Shows: best practices.
In his posting Heipel takes a look at eleven apps ranging from ART Basel to Quickmobile with examples of how they have been adopted by our industry. It is a great posting that I highly recommend.
Thanks for sharing the link, Barry! Much appreciated! You may also be interested in a post I wrote about how organizers can drive downloads of their apps: http://michaelheipel.wordpress.com/2011/07/31/smartphone-event-apps/
Cheers,

I think apps for trade fairs and conferences are not only a great new service for exhibitors and visitors but also a tool for organizers to solve coming problems of changes in their business models (decrease of attendance, generation gap, need for more value, clients’ journey at a fair, …). UFI at its Focus Seminar in Kiev in April 2011 already offered the application for iPhone and Android, and many participants used it. With new technologies and approaches like Augmented Reality, Near Field Communication (NFC) and so on, this class of apps will be more and more productive.
Just forgot to say that UFI application for Kiev Focus Seminar was developed by KitApps http://www.kitapps.com.
