About a decade ago I was part of a conference in Sao Paulo, Brazil. One of the keynote speakers predicted the growth of the Brazilian economy and the internationalization of the exhibition industry. We have all seen the dramatic raise of Brazil on the global stage.
Last week I was involved in the Korean Exhibition Forum in Daegu, Korea, where Steve Monnington, Managing Director of UK based Mayfield Media Strategies made a similar prediction for Korea.
For the first time in Korea’s history its export sales have topped the one trillion dollar (US) mark. With this growth comes awareness that many of its exhibitions are prime buy-out targets from international exhibition management companies looking to expand into new and dynamic markets.
Korea’s appeal is significant. It is strategically located, the facilities are first class (the conference was held in the newly expanded EXCO in Daegu), the industries and people are vibrant and entrepreneurial and the desire to be part of the global marketplace is evident.
Have any of our readers had experience in Korea that would support Monnington’s thesis?
I happened to attend MICE Expo in Seoul in June this year and it was an enriching experience to see how S.Korea was wooing and attracting fresh MICE business. In fact we are organising an Exhibition in S.Korea in 2012 and probably the first ever show from India in S.Korea
I happened to go to MICE Expo in Seoul in June this year and it was an improving knowledge to perceive how S.Korea was charming and drawing in crisp MICE business. In certainty, we are sorting out an Exhibition in S.Korea in 2019 and most likely the principal ever appear from India in S.Korea
