We all understand the value a high-profile keynote speaker can bring to our conferences and trade fairs but choosing the right speaker can sometimes be a challenge
A year ago the stories from the middle east were filled with doom and gloom. Overbuilt, underutilized facilities in a recessionary economy left people wondering if the massive investment in this region was nothing more than a series of foolish bets.
Could these be two warning signs of a so called, “Double-dip recession?” If the pessimists are right, what does all this mean to the exhibition industry whose success metrics closely mirror GNP and GDP?
So much has moved us away from the simple pleasures of meeting and talking with people face-to-face. The world of travel has become less friendly rather than more. Maybe the addition of a concierge might be the right remedy to reverse those decreasing attendee numbers.
Organizers will be faced with new challenges, the most significant being the way exhibitors find value in their exhibition investment.
In an age of takeovers, closures, co-joining efforts, shrinking markets and highly specialized fairs, one might rightfully ask what’s in a name. If you’re shaking your head wondering what the answer is for you, then you must also be pondering the follow-up question – how much effort is maintaining a name worth?
