Your desk wouldn’t seem complete without a telephone, the device we have grown so accustomed to. Yet, that telephone may be heading in the same direction as your fax machine – another piece of technological wizardry that a mere 20 years ago no self-respecting business would be without.
Years ago when the topic of privacy in marketing became an issue, countries scrambled to develop their own legislation. Today over 200 countries have legislation that addresses the needs of consumer privacy. The same issue seems to be happening with social media.
The premise of her talk is that social media and technology while allowing us to stay in contact, is doing so at the price of real conversations. This, according to professor Turtle “Will have some serious consequences for our relationships, our self-perceptions and our emotions.”
