The past few years have seen many price conscious business travelers waiting for last minute  to book space at hotels and exhibitions. According to a recent study by the Travel Click North American Hospitality Review, published in Successful Meetings, this trend may be reversing itself.

The study reported that third quarter (July 2012 – September 2012) results showed the hotel industry experiencing a 1.2% increase in growth, an increase in the daily rate charges and a 4.4% increase in revenue.

For the fourth quarter (October 2012 – December 2012) the committed occupancy has increased a startling 7.2%.

This leads the authors to predict that business travel for the next 12 months should see a 4.1% overall increase in demand.

Assuming that what happens in the US can be an indicator of international travel patterns and since a significant percentage of business travel is to attend a trade fair or conference this has to be a positive sign for the exhibition industry.
