One of the issues many independent organizers wrestle with is the investment in Big Data. Recently the UK based Event Supplier and Service Association (ESSA) used its collective power of members to initiate its Data/Registration working group.

Simply put, this group is charged with the task of bringing together different data bases from member companies without jeopardizing the individual’s commercial interest. These data bases will ultimately have enough data to provide a very accurate picture of the entire UK event industry.

I find initiatives like this exciting because the potential benefits to everyone in the industry are so great. I would like to hear from anyone who has heard of similar efforts in other geographic regions.
