Does an undergraduate business degree prepare students for a career in the exhibition industry? According to Professor Rickard Alum in a recent article in the New York Times, the answer is perhaps not.

Until recently a business degree was one credential needed to ensure landing a good job – but the question is, will it persist?

What Alum found was that initially business graduates had a slightly higher chance of finding a good job than students from other disciplines. But twelve months later the numbers revealed a different picture; 9% were unemployed, 28% worked part-time and 45% had moved back to living with their parents.

One of the reasons for this might be these same students spend on average less than one hour per day studying and preparing for classes.

While this study is US based, it is worth asking if any of you are finding that the business degree candidates you are considering have what it takes to succeed in the long run.
