The initial findings of CEIR’s Virtual Study were recently presented in Washington. The top ten findings of the study were:

  1. Most virtual events are extensions of physical events
  2. Live content was the most popular component
  3. There is a concern about resources and technology
  4. There is room to generate additional revenue
  5. Initial expectations of combining virtual with live events were met
  6. Three components to success are: planning, longer sales cycles and shorter events
  7. The first objective of adding a virtual component to a live event is to reach a larger audience
  8. The proliferation of virtual is higher than expected
  9. Two-thirds of organizers have embraced the virtual events
  10. New revenue models are emerging
