The initial findings of CEIR’s Virtual Study were recently presented in Washington. The top ten findings of the study were:
- Most virtual events are extensions of physical events
- Live content was the most popular component
- There is a concern about resources and technology
- There is room to generate additional revenue
- Initial expectations of combining virtual with live events were met
- Three components to success are: planning, longer sales cycles and shorter events
- The first objective of adding a virtual component to a live event is to reach a larger audience
- The proliferation of virtual is higher than expected
- Two-thirds of organizers have embraced the virtual events
- New revenue models are emerging
