Location: Javits Center, New York, USA

Date: September 21 2023

The inaugural Nest Sustainable Events Summit, supported by UFI and JMIC (Joint Meetings Industry Council) takes place at the Javits Center in New York City on September 21 this year at 8:30 AM ET. This half-day, interactive program is limited to only 120 people and will be a combined update on the Net Carbon Events initiative, global industry sustainable efforts, and interactive Think Tank.

Held during Climate Week at the Nest Summit Climate Campus, delegates to the Events portion may use their badges to visit the rest of the larger event September 19-21, also at the same location.

Martha Donato, President and Founder of MAD Event Management LLC and producer of the event discussed the purpose of the event. She said, “We want to learn what different industry sectors sustainability efforts are doing, why those specific efforts have been prioritized, and how we can partner together to enhance business events sustainability efforts overall. The more we educate ourselves these initiatives, the more sustainable business events can be.”

The Keynote is Whitney Dailey, Executive VP of Purpose with Allison+Partners and will discuss The State of Sustainability in the US – Where are We? She co-leads the global PR agency’s Purpose Center of Excellence – a dedicated team specializing in Purpose brand strategy and sustainability leadership.

One important sector update is How Venues Influence and Drive Sustainability Efforts and their True Economic Impact with Laura Purdy, General Manager, Exhibition Place, Toronto, Canada, Lisa Chamberlin, Smart Cities, World Economic Forum, and Claude Molinari, President, VISIT Detroit, City of Detroit.

Industry Service Provider update will be given by Lindsay Arell, Honeycomb (formerly with Freeman and ASM Global) and Freeman’s Mike Pietreaszck. Another planned session will focus on funding ongoing industry sustainability efforts (sustaining sustainability if you will).

All delegates are expected to actively participate throughout the program and will be asked to, submit a 30-60 second social media sharable video (prompts will be sent up on acceptance to attend).
